Classic Cocktail Drink Commissions by Crazdude Classic Cocktail Drink Commissions by Crazdude
I was commissioned by ~stromie's friend to design and illustrate a set of the six classic cocktails in a gender-neutral style (since he's a guy and there are a lot of feminine cocktail art pieces out there and few neutral/masculine options.) I chose vectorized style inspired by the Art Deco poster art style. :)

I'm glad to be done with these! Now to find a cost-affordable way to produce them as 12"x12" wrapped canvas prints. ~stromie has advised against DA prints but I may do it since it's so easy. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Art (c) Carrie "Crazdude" Stariha

Program: Adobe Illustrator CS3
Tools/Effects: Wacom tablet mouse, gradients and transparencies applied to some elements, type tool for text, stroke applied to some elements, Pen tool used for lines.

Have you made any test prints like say from a good inkjet printer or laser printer on good photo stock? That should give you a good idea on color separation, hues and general appearance. You can outsource that. Any good office supply company can do that for you heck even Walmart does color prints. Whatever you do, don't lose that final Illustrator vector file make copies and put one on a flash drive or external drive. That's a lot of work hours to take a chance. You did a great job. That would be very eye catching in a nice glass enclosed frame of say 24" x 36" or larger hanging is a lobby of a high dollar hotel or in their lounge area with soft LED Hilites. Signed and dated of course.

PS. It just occurred to me that you may also consider Litographs. I can definitely see this piece selling for upwards of $1000.00 USD but you may have to do some leg work and shop it around. There's a lot of money out there and corporations, companies and people willing to spend for quality original work. You just have to hustle to get it. Good luck.

PPS. Oh yea and do remove it from DA. You've shown it. This is your idea and your money. Enough said.

Oh gosh, thank you for the comment but this is such an old post xD I've had them printed on canvas and have been full-time artist for 2 years now. Also sell photo prints in my shop: crazdude.com/product/cocktail-…

Wow at first glance they look simple but on second thought, I bet you did have a really hard time making these! ;O; I would've died trying to make everything symmetrical and such xD And drawing food just kills me for some reason x-x lol Amazing work!~~

Oh yeah I forgot to enter in there that I spent about 28 total hours on this set of images! xD That time involved the research of images, ingredients, etc. I think the twisted lemon peel in the martini image was one of the hardest and most complex since it required that I split the colors apart (inside vs outside rind color), shadows, highlights, make gradients for each curl side (as if each loop was a separate shape)... needless to say, it took a lot of time and layers but was an interesting puzzle to solve! :D Now, if I make half of a bottle or glass the way I want it to look, I can duplicate it, flip it, and flatten the two halves to make it symmetrical in Illustrator. But asymmetrical things take a lot more time (like doing all the details on the Beefeater gin guy! Thankfully that was my first set of drink ingredient bottles to do and Stromie's friend told me that I didn't need to be that detailed so I toned it down for the other bottles after that one. ^^) Oh! And searching for fonts that look similar to the brand labeling I was mimicking was tough too! :P Because I didn't want it to be an advertisement for the alcohol/ingredients but we wanted to get the idea across while still showcasing the drink as the "star" of the picture. ^^

Thank you so much for your comment, bub!! :glomp:

hee! Thank you, bub! :glomp: If you'd like a drink, I suggest a fancy-times bar! :drunk: :ahoy: But if you're interested in ordering some prints, I'll have to figure out a good place to get canvas prints and then I can figure out prices! I hope to sign them individually before I ship them too!

Haha I guess xD
I don't even think I can get a martini around here unless I go to the fancy ass expensive bars fff haha

<3
I ordered a pencil case and two pillow cases from them, and they were pretty good quality ;D
I'm not sure about canvases, but it wouldn't hurt poking around

xDDD Yeah, I think some restaurants still create martinis - I don't remember which ones - Cheesecake Factory for sure... and fancy restaurants I guess! :P lol

Oh cool! I like what I see on the site and the prices look ridiculously reasonable! I may have to create an account with them! :la: Thanks again! :glomp:

haha yep yep!

You know what's even better? You get a couple of stuff for free (not including the shipping) when you make an account x3!
Like, you get two pencil cases for free, dog tags, canvases, prints etc etc.
Bad thing about that, is that they're not a permanent sale so to speak. You can only get them for free within a certain amount of time
