PlushiesComments Thankfully I had some help from my mom and a Home-ecconomics type of class in Middle school
 Then I went crazy and started making my own patterns and testing ideas with cheap fabric! I mean REALLY CHEAP... old clothes, sheets, and tablecloths work well for making prototypes. The easiest thing to start with is making hemmed edges and square pockets. The most important things to know about sewing and pattern-making are:  Leave at least 1/4" of extra fabric around every edge that you'll sew - legs will be fatter on the pattern than you'll expect them to be once sewn (see "Lego the leg-less Stego" for this hard lesson! lol) Test your stitch tension on a scrap of the same fabric to make sure the machine won't suck in and destroy your actual project! D: Sew things inside out to keep the ugly stitches inside - this makes things tricky for complex things like dragons with horns and wings.I think that's all I can think of...   Ahhh old clothes!
 *stalks to closet*My mum is also very good at sewing but she seems to have issues when it's so blatantly easy to her and I phail like that one time I created a fireball in the kitchen. Thanks for the tips! I have a sewing machine but I haven't used one since 7th grade, welp, time to relearn it! How did you create a fireball while sewing?
 And why were you sewing in the kitchen?? Wait! GET THE HELL OUTTA THE KITCHEN!! >:U Crazy kids ...Anyways, totally ask your mum for tips and tricks! Maybe she can create some test projects for you to try out? Just to get the feel of the machine again and such Oh whoops, wrong context. I was cooking in the kitchen and made a fireball. No, I totally sewed so fast I made a fireball.
